Stolen car recovered, three arrested in Ipahla Road

The car had false number plates

The long arm of the law descended on three men who abandoned a stolen car near Kingsway Hospital on Monday, 16 October at about 10.30am.

ET and Blue Security armed response units together with Metro Police apprehended the trio, who had abandoned a stolen vehicle with false number plates along Ipahla and Kingsway roads.

They were running towards Kingsway Hospital when they were caught. On further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle also had a false licence disc. On checking the  engine number, the car was confirmed as having been stolen earlier this month in the Newlands East area.

The men, aged between 24 and 29 years, were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. They appeared in Durban court today (Wednesday, 17 October).

The management of Amanzimtoti SAPS commends the members involved for their continued vigilance and support in fighting crime locally.
