Hikers to meander from forest to farm
A hike through the forest then up to the open grassland and the beacon.
DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club hikes the Beacon trail of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve (KKNR) on Saturday, 21 October.
Call hike leader Abdullah on 084-478-6779. This 7km hike, which carries a vertigo warning, is graded three, moderate to strenuous.
The hike meanders through the forest, then up to the open grassland and the beacon. Entrance fee is R30. Stay for drinks afterwards at the Nature Café in Kloof Falls Road. Meet 1.45pm at the KKNR main entrance (152 Kloof Falls Road).
On Sunday, 22 October Ramblers will venture out on a farm hike at Umzinto Farm.
Call hike leaders Jon and Sharon on 082-459-1522. This 15km hike is graded two to three and takes place on a farm in the Umzinto area in Amashova at 7.30am. This outing affords lovely views.
Take your own for drinks or braai items to enjoy at the farm house after the hike. Petrol sharing costs R45.
