Toti pupil possesses the winning formula

The 17-year-old academic finished first in the region and in the top five nationally.

Amanzimtoti High School grade 11 pupil, Sean Scorer excelled in an accounting Olympiad last month.

The 17-year-old academic finished first in the region and in the top five nationally.

“I will attend a gala and awards ceremony on 10 October to find out what my percentage was and where I came,” he said. “I’m very excited to discover my position.”

Sean has also excelled in math Olympiads in the past. He entered in grade 5, 6, 7 and 9 and finished in the top 200 three times.

He is consistently top of his class in the two subjects. “Those are my two strongest subjects and the ones I like the best.”

He also does well in physics and life science. “I’m hoping for distinctions in five subjects, including Afrikaans, in grade 12. My English is not the greatest.”

Sean received honours in academics last year and hopes to emulate that this year. He also swims, plays hockey and water polo for his school and received half colours for swimming in grade 9.

“I want to study chartered accounting or actuarial science at either Stellenbosch University or Cape Town after matric.”
