Ward committee laments Amanzimtoti residents’ apathy

The 10 sub-committee members under each portfolio should ideally be forthcoming from each of the suburbs.

At its recent meeting, members of the ward 97 committee expressed disappointment in the community’s apathy towards involvement within the different portfolio committees that they oversee.

While the ward committee is made up of 10 members who each oversee a specific portfolio, they should each be supported in their portfolios by a sub-committee comprising of 10 local residents.

This is in terms of the guidelines, which stipulate that the portfolio sub-committee should advise and recommend ward-specific service delivery strategies to council.
