BREAKING NEWS: Sardines make late show in Umkomaas [VIDEO]

"This past weekend saw shoals netted at Scottburgh and Umkomaas, and again at Umkomaas this morning," Mike Anderson-Reade, head of operations at KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board.

THE sardines aren’t quite finished putting in an appearance along the South Coast, with shoals netted at Umkomaas this morning (Monday, 24 July).

With such a late appearance, experts are unable to predict the shoals’ movements from here on out.

“Small shoals have been netted along the South Coast over the past week,” said Mike Anderson-Reade, head of operations at KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board.
“This past weekend saw shoals netted at Scottburgh and Umkomaas, and again at Umkomaas this morning. The majority of the action – which is still ongoing – has been between St Michaels and Ramsgate.”

Mike is unable to say which direction they’ll take from there.

“It’s only really the sards that are making an appearance. The bigger game fish and other predators are few and far between, making us uncertain of the amount or size of shoals still on the way,” explained Mike.
