Search launched for missing Doonside man

If anyone has any information, call Barbara on 073-180-2461.

A search is underway for missing man Daniel ‘Doggie’ Nel (57) of Doonside.

He was last seen on Monday morning, 17 July when he told his girlfriend Barbara Rutter, with whom he lives, that he was going out for a jog in the area.

However, CCTV footage from the flats where he lives shows him leaving the premises at 7.05am with three bags, going in the direction of the train station.

“Someone at the laundromat saw him go into the train station to buy a ticket,” said Barbara.

He was also spotted close to the river, which led to emergency services personnel searching the area on Wednesday morning, 19 July.

Barbara said his bank card, which was missing from Sunday, was used to draw money in the vicinity of Moses Mabhida Stadium at 9.32am on Monday. Barbara is waiting to see that CCTV footage to confirm whether it was Doggie who made the withdrawal.

Doggie’s ex-wife who lives on the Bluff hasn’t seen him recently.
