What you need to know before visiting testing grounds

Do you know what documents you need to take with you to the testing ground?

What you need to take with you to the Winklespruit Testing Grounds:

To book your learner’s licence:
* Two photos (black and white or colour)
* Copy of your ID
* Original ID
* Proof of residence (not older than 3 months).
If the proof of residence is not in the applicant’s name (eg, your child or spouse who lives with you), you need to get an affidavit from the police to state they live with you.

To book your driver’s licence:
* Learner’s licence
* Two photos (black and white or colour)
* Copy of your ID
* Original ID
* Proof of residence (not older than 3 months).
If the proof of residence is not in the applicant’s name (eg, your child or spouse who lives with you), you need to get an affidavit from the police to state they live with you.

To renew your licence:
* Copy of your ID
* Original ID
* Proof of residence (not older than 3 months).
If you have your old license, take it with, as it makes it easier for them to update your new one.

To get a temporary licence:
* One photo (black and white or colour)
* Copy of your ID
* Original ID
* Proof of residence (not older than 3 months).

To get your PDP:
* Get a medical certificate form from the testing grounds, which you then take to your doctor, then return to the grounds with it.

Costs:
* Driver’s licence – R250, R90 if doing a temporary
* Learner’s licence – R150
* Driver’s test – R200 (LMV), R300 (HMV)

Opening times:
* Monday to Saturday – 7am. The eye test centre closes at 2pm. The applicants already in the queue will be seen to before the grounds close. The cashiers close at 2.30pm.
* Saturday – 7am to 2pm.
* Sunday – 7am to 12pm.
* First and third weekend of the month – 7am to 2pm.

From October 2019, the centre will open on Saturdays only, excluding public holidays.
