Annalie is Winkle BC’s 2017 women’s singles champion

OWEN Turner and Dries Snyman were the overall winners of the men’s 2-4-2 played at Winklespruit Bowling Club on Thursday, 29 June.

Second session winners were Martin Young and George Cormack.

The 100 board was won by Owen Turner.

Elaine Critchlow and Linda Hobbs beat Estelle van der Merwe and Sylveigh Ananiadis in the first leg of the women’s nominated 2-4-2.

The final of the men’s nominated trips was played and Brian Farmer, Mac Mackrory and Les John were the victors over Alan Raubenheimer, Freddy Hetterscheidt and Les Gibbens.

Annalie Pienaar and Sylveigh competed for the title of the 2017 women’s singles champion with Annalie emerging victorious.

The annual mid-year braai for the men’s pensioner league was held at Winkle BC on Tuesday. All enjoyed the event and the good food. Thank you to all the members who organised and worked at the braai to make it a success. The whiskey draw was won by Bill Helwer and the Old Brown Sherry by Bessie Vergottini. Vince Marriott won the 100 board.

The Winkle B eighth division team lost both games to Stella Park E team.

Les Gibbens won the attendance draw on Friday evening. As he was not present it will be a carry over. Alan Raubenheimer won the Wheel of Fortune.

Friday evening’s meal was well attended and enjoyed. It was prepared by Trish Farmer while Lou Lou organised the pudding. The club thanks them for organising and preparing the meal. There will be no meal this Friday evening.

Diarise the following dates: The final of the men’s and women’s Port Natal league will be played on Saturday afternoon, 8 July. The men’s teams are both playing away games and the women will play at home, so support your favourite women’s team. Take note the women’s game starts at 12.30pm and the men’s games start at 1pm at their various venues.

Teams from Winkle are playing in the Dan Draper tournament at Montclair this week. The club wishes them good bowling.

Social bowls will be played on Wednesday and Friday afternoons at 1.30pm for 2pm. Prayers and thoughts are with Brian Pasfield, Gert and Wilma Richter for a speedy recovery.
