Dogs in quarantine at Amanzimtoti SPCA

To avoid the spread of the disease, all kennels are out of bounds to members of the public and volunteers until further notice.

THE Amanzimtoti SPCA has urged people to refrain from visiting the shelter’s dogs as they are in quarantine after an outbreak of kennel cough.

To avoid the spread of the disease, all kennels are out of bounds to members of the public and volunteers until further notice.

“I would just like members of the public, who are looking to adopt or walk a dog, to know that all of our dogs are in quarantine for a minimum of 10 days due to severe kennel cough and a secondary infection,” said manager Tracey Girling. “We are having to do this under the guidance of our vet as we are not managing to control the spread of the virus.”

If the SPCA staff do not adhere to their vet’s advice, they could end up having more fatalities.
“We will advise the public once this is under control and the vet has given the all clear,” assured Tracey.
