Corpse found floating in Mbokodweni River

It is believed the deceased could have been an illegal gill netter.

A dead body was discovered in the Mbokodweni River on Tuesday afternoon, 9 May.

“Our control centre received a call from a client to say there was a body floating in the river by Toti golf course,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker.

The response team was dispatched to the scene and they verified the information.

Emergency services were called and SAPS search and rescue retrieved the body.

It is believed the deceased could have been an illegal gill netter who was caught in his net.

An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
