Woman critical after Umgababa collision with truck

After a truck collided with the woman's car, she lost control and veered off the road and came to a stop at the bottom of the embankment.

A woman was left critically injured this morning after a truck collided with her car on the N2 southbound at Umgababa.

After a truck collided with the woman’s car, she lost control and veered off the road and came to a stop at the bottom of the embankment.

ER24 paramedics and provincial services arrived to find the the motorist’s car lying at the bottom of a small embankment on the side of the road,” said ER24’s spokesman, Russel Meiring.

“On closer inspection, paramedics discovered a woman lying trapped inside and assessments showed she was in a critical condition.”

Rescue services extricated the motorist from the vehicle using specialised tools. Once freed, the woman was treated for her injuries and transported to Kingsway Hospital for urgent care. Local authorities will investigate this collision.
