Swimmers raise funds for local heated pool

Kuswag School based swimming club, will be fundraising this Friday night

Kuswag School based swimming club, Titans will be fundraising at Toti’s Splash Water World this Friday night, 17 March from 6pm to 9pm.

The swimming club will raise funds towards the installation of pool heaters for the school pool, which will enable learners to continue training throughout the winter season.

Having been a competitive swimmer all his life, Titans’ coach, Marno Langevelt wanted to give back to his community. Realising Toti’s need for a swimming club, the passionate athlete opened the Titans Swimming Club in January, operating from Kuswag School’s pool.

“The facilities at Kuswag are great, however for competitive swimmers training requires a 365-day-a-year commitment and this means swimming throughout winter is a must,” said the coach.

“For this reason, the club has started fundraising for pool covers for the winter and in the future we are looking to purchase heat pumps.”

The Friday night fundraiser will attract a R45 entry into Splash Waterworld. Titans club will be selling hamburgers, boerewors rolls, slush puppies and sweets. The funds raised at this event will go towards the purchase of a clock and pool covers for the local school’s swimming pool. The swimming club and school hope that their fundraiser will be supported, as the additions to the local school’s pool will be of benefit to the Titans Swimming Club, Kuswag School and the community as a whole.
