Kuswag Skool has bade a sad farewell to its principal, Linda Scholtz, who has taken up the reins as principal of Danville Park Girls High School in Durban.
“I was very, very sad to leave Kuswag and I shed many tears, as I was very happy there and loved my children and staff,” said Linda, who resides in Yellowwood Park.
“Perhaps the fact the timeline was so fast made it a little easier, as the goodbyes had to be quick.
However, being able to focus on only the high school phase and only on girls education at Danville Park will bring me such scope for growth.”
Linda admitted the new appointment came as a surprise to her. “I was very honoured to be the successful candidate.
What was a surprise was that I was notified on a Wednesday afternoon and had to inform my staff and members of the school governing body the next day, as well as report to Danville to meet the staff and receive my appointment letter.”
Linda was born in Durban and did her schooling at Montclair Primary School and Mowat Park High School.
When asked what made her want to become a teacher, she said she has always loved working with children. “As a little girl, I started playing ‘school-school’ with my pets and teddies.
Making a difference in children’s lives and witnessing the sparkle in their eyes is what drives me.”
Linda has a degree in education and a higher education diploma. She has taught at Empangeni High School, Estcourt High, St Gregory College, Brettonwood High, Ridge Park College, Kuswag and now at Danville Park Girls High, but Kuswag will always have a soft spot in her heart.
“I will miss my children, staff and my colleagues who had become my friends at Kuswag,” she said.
