Stolen bushcutter retrieved

We need the owner to come forward, identify the property and open a case.

A patrolling Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) street guard apprehended a housebreaker with a stolen weed eater in Heather Road at about midnight on Saturday, 29 October.

According to CCPO committee member, George Snodey, the man could not give a reasonable explanation of why he had the tool in his possession.

SAPS member Martin Booyens was called and the man was arrested.

“We need the owner to come forward, identify the property and open a case or else the police will be forced to let him go,” said Snodey.

In a separate incident, the CCPO and ET Rapid Response reaction officer, Ashley Naidoo apprehended a thief with a stolen security gate on Thursday, 27 October.

“The CCPO received a call about a gate being stolen at about 9.30am and Jason Hewitt and his crew went looking for the suspect,” said Snodey.

“They found him in the vicinity of Dickens Road, but when he spotted them, he dropped the gate and fled.

Ashely spotted him in Oppenheimer Road and apprehended him.”

The man was taken back to the property he had burgled, where he was positively identified by the domestic worker and arrested.
