Man dies in N2 north crash near Doonside

This was one of several crashes on the N2 at the weekend

A man died after he was ejected from his bakkie on the N2 north about 200m before the Doonside Road off-ramp on Saturday afternoon, 17 September.

Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle was travelling south when it veered off the road in wet weather, hurtled across the centre median and overturned several times.

Paramedics found the man had been thrown for about 50m, his critically-wounded body coming to rest in the northbound lane.

“Paramedics found he had died before our arrival, due to the extensive injuries he sustained,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

The bakkie was found in the bush about 200m from the point of impact.

Exact detail to the cause of the crash will be investigated by the police.
