Burglar stabs Winkle woman in neck

Toti SAPS attended the scene but the couple declined to open a case.

A woman was stabbed in the neck during a house break-in in Hunt Road in Winklespruit in the early hours of Monday morning, 12 September.

According to the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) which attended the scene, two men entered the premises and the woman tussled with one of the men. “She was stabbed but fortunately not too seriously,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

Nothing was taken.

Toti SAPS attended the scene but the couple declined to open a case. It is believed they are moving out of the area soon.

Later that morning in a separate incident, two suspected thieves were chased in St Winifreds by the CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security but made their escape.

“A CCPO foot patrol guard saw something suspicious in Sugar Road and called the control room,” said Snodey.

CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo Mdunjane saw the men crossing through the sugarcane towards the Illovo River. The pair crossed the river and Triple M went around to cut them off. Unfortunately they spotted him and backtracked before disappearing.

On Sunday, 11 September at about 7.30am thieves broke into an Inyoni Crescent real estate business and stole computers.

“We want to warn local businesses this gang is still around,” said Snodey. “They come into the area, hit a business and then disappear for a while. In this instance, they were in and out in less than three minutes. You need to ensure your business is difficult to get into.”

CCPO clients can call Snodey on 083-655-4302 for advice on how to safeguard their premises.
