One railway line to be reinstated by December

PRASA expects to sign off on the entire project by 11 November.

Site meetings with Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) contractors confirm they are under pressure to render one serviceable railway line between Isipingo and Winklespruit by the end of November.

This is according to ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.

Railway lines between Winklespruit and Umbogintwini railway stations were damaged during the July floods and PRASA expects to sign off on the entire project to repair them by 11 November.

“While we have expressed concern regarding the operation and routes utilised by the buses deployed to transport commuters between Winklespruit and Umbogintwini, PRASA is yet to confirm a meeting to discuss alternatives,” said Cllr Beetge.
