Charity shop needs donations

We rely solely on the generosity of the public

ANIMAL organisation 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue appeals to the public to assist with donations and support for its charity shop in Scottburgh.

The registered ‘pro life’ NPO is responsible for rescuing and re-homing abandoned, abused and neglected animals in Scottburgh and surrounding areas.

They also feed, provide medical care and shelter for strays and animals in the local townships and underprivileged areas.

The charity shop opened its doors in December and is in desperate need of ‘pre-loved items’ to sell to raise funds to feed new strays.

“The numbers of animals in need of help has increased exponentially during the past year and, as we rely solely on the generosity of the public, we hope for any donations of household items that we can use to help stock the shop. We will also welcome any donations of dog food to be dropped off at the shop,” said the founder of 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue, Nicky Koekemoer.

It is our dream to have our own rescue centre where we can house abandoned and neglected animals

Koekemoer is at the front line every day, feeding and caring for animals in the townships before and after work. “It is our dream to have our own rescue centre where we can house abandoned and neglected animals. However, that has been put on the back burner due to lack of funding. We need the support of the local community for the sake of the animals who know nothing but suffering.”

Members of the community are requested to donate any unwanted household and garden items or dog food and to support the Scottburgh shop – they are able to use anything as long as it’s not stained, broken or torn.

The 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue charity shop situated in Thira Village just off the main road, 142 Scott Street, is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to noon every Saturday.
