Kindness helps Scotts notch up 60 years of marriage

We miss our lifelong friends and the outdoor lifestyle.

Ex-Toti residents, Betty and Ray Scott will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on 15 June in the UK where they now reside.

“We are finding living in the UK difficult and we miss Toti,” they said.

“We miss our lifelong friends and the outdoor lifestyle.” Ray especially misses the sea. He was born on 27 March 1930 in Pietermaritzburg, while Betty was born on 25 May 1933 in Durban.

Ray lived in Toti since the age of 12. “He moved to Toti to be with his grandmother,” said Betty. “I moved to Toti after we were married.” The couple left for the UK in December 2009.

We met through a mutual friend at the Technical College in Durban that we both attended. “Betty was full of fun and had very sexy legs,” said Ray. “Ray was kind with great sex appeal,” countered Betty. “It wasn’t love at first sight, but it was ‘attraction at first sight’,” they both said.

“We attribute sharing our joys and sorrows with each other to our long-lasting marriage. Our advice to newlyweds is always be kind to one another.”
