UPDATE: Gardener arrested for murder

Police traced the gardener to Malakazi area, near Isipingo

A provincial police task team yesterday (Thursday, 14 January) arrested a 67-year-old gardener for the murder of Orient Hills resident, Nadarajan ‘Nad’ Nayager (65).

Nayager was found dead in his home in Orient Drive, Isipingo on Wednesday, 13 January. His hands had been tied and he had sustained multiple injuries.

The task team’s intensive investigation uncovered evidence leading them to believe that Nayager had an argument with his gardener who tied him up and killed him, before fleeing with the scene with his cellphone.

Police traced the gardener to Malakazi area, near Isipingo and arrested him for the murder. Nayager’s cellphone was also recovered. He will appear in Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 January.

KZN police commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the task team members for their dedication in solving the case and arresting the man. “We also applaud the commitment of the members and we believe the justice will take its course,” she said.
