Furtive cell thief strikes in Kingsburgh

He made his getaway over a precast fence.

A BALACLAVA-clad thief pounced on an unsuspecting resident in his Longacres Drive, Kingsburgh home and grabbed his cellphone in the early hours of Saturday, 22 August.

The resident got up at about 3.45am to let his dog out. “I left the sliding door slightly open. I was sitting in the lounge, reading the Sun and voting on my cellphone for a friend of mine in the bride competition when someone grabbed me from behind,” he said.

At first, he assumed it was his son, but when he looked behind, he was confronted by the balaclava-wearing thief. “He was dressed for the occasion, all in black. He grabbed my Samsung S6 Edge, which I only had for about five days and ran out the sliding door.”

He chased after him, but the thief made his getaway over a precast fence.

“It happened so quickly, I am shaken, it was unexpected.” He suspects the thief may have seen the lights come on and bided his time before entering the property. He warns other home owners to be careful and to ensure they lock their doors.
