Cash loan office robbed

The suspects wiped all the surfaces they had touched with a cloth.

A case of business robbery is being investigated by Amanzimtoti detectives after three armed robbers made off with a substantial amount of cash from a loans business in the Toti CBD.

A staff member was followed into the building by the three men when she opened the office on Saturday, 8 August.

According to police, they were all armed with firearms and wearing gloves and one suspect was wearing a balaclava.

“They demanded cash and pushed her inside a toilet after she gave them the safe key,” said Toti SAPS communication officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy.

“They enquired about other staff and told her to sit on the chair in front, so they would not see anything suspicious. When the other staff members entered along with some clients they were held hostage. Their hands were tied with cable ties, which the robbers took from their bags.

Security officers with the CCPO and Blue Security were somehow alerted and on their arrival, the suspects fled through the back door with R15,000.

The suspects wiped all the surfaces they had touched with a cloth.

No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained.”
