Fifth year students of the Nelson Mandela Medical School in Durban visited Khanya Hospice for two days last week to do their practicals.
“Palliative care is now incorporated in the curriculum at the medical school and these students were very interested to go out with our Hospice nursing staff to see and experience first-hand the state of the patients and do a case study on each,” said CEO, Neil McDonald.
“Hospice staff were equally as happy for the help of the medical students.
We will be visited by two more groups in the next two months, which is great as volunteers are always welcome at Hospice.”
