Winkle BC club championships decided

The 100 board draw was won by Vera Broskie and Jackey Holdrick won the mystery prize.

THE weather has been kind to the bowling community on the South Coast.

All Winklespruit Bowling Club competitions were well supported.

In the club championships women’s pairs, Cathy du Plooy and partner Elmarie Young, achieved a victory over Annalie Pienaar and Lulu Bingham. In the mixed pairs, Martin and Elmarie Young achieved a win over Steve Evenwel and Maureen Griffin.

On Thursday, 2 July, the monthly women’s Victory Kwik Spar trips were played. The women from Toti Bowling Club walked away with all the prizes. Second session winners were Mardi Dovale, Jacqui Fouche and Val de Kok. Overall winners were the trio of Heather Brown, Jacky Holdrick and Kathy Cox. The 100 board draw was won by Vera Broskie and Jackey Holdrick won the mystery prize. Trish Farmer won the spider.

Thanks to Annalie Pienaar who prepared a delicious dinner which was enjoyed by all following the afternoon’s social bowls. On Saturday, 4 July, the monthly Scroungers were played. Errol Theron was crowned the champion of champions, Di Kruger won the plate A trophy and the plate B trophy was won by Trish Farmer.

Diarise the following events: Social bowls at 1.30pm on Wednesday, 2pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday. Sunday, 12 July – Steve Evenwel mixed 2-4-2 at 9am. Monday, 13 July – green maintenance at 8am. Saturday, 18 July – Clearwater Spur 2-4-2 at 9am. Check the notice board for the players list.

Congratulations to those who are celebrating their anniversary and birthdays during the week. To those members who are ill, the club wishes them a speedy recovery. Thoughts and prayers are with them.
