UPDATE: Vehicle parts found near N2 body parts

A VW Golf GTI badge, number plate and licence disk were found at the scene.

VEHICLE parts, including a number plate and other items have been found at the site of where body parts were discovered earlier this morning at the Isipingo off-ramp of the N2 highway.

Brighton Beach SAPS received confirmation of more leads from Umlazi SAPS, which is investigating the case.

“Umlazi SAPS confirmed they received a call this morning of a human leg lying in the road on the N2 southbound near the old Durban International Airport. On further investigation they found other scattered body parts. Near the scene, motor vehicle parts were found, indicating a collision. A vehicle number plate, shattered windscreen glass, a vehicle licence disk and a VW Golf GTI badge were recovered,” said Brighton Beach SAPS communications officer, Capt Louise Le Roux.

“Metro Police is currently at the scene awaiting confirmation of ownership of the vehicle. The scene indicates the vehicle was towed away.”

The victim has been identified a woman. The exact time of the incident has not yet been determined.

“Confirmation has not yet been received if a missing persons report has been filed in the last 24 hours or if an accident has been registered at Umlazi SAPS. Towing companies are also being contacted to confirm if a Golf GTI had been towed in the last 24 hours.”
