Toti band to release EP

It comprises several songs and will be available on 1 April.

TOTI band, Gus Brown will release an EP, titled ‘Full Collision’, named after a lyric in their song ‘Moving On’, on Wednesday, 1 April.

“It will comprise six or seven songs, depending on final mixing. Most of the songs were written over a few years, some before Gus Brown came together – all inspired by life, love, the ocean, sunshine, the universe and drinking beer,” said the band’s Gavin Welsh.

It has always been their goal to record and share their songs. “It has taken a couple of years of jamming, gigging hard and saving to get this to this point. It feels like the realisation of a dream and we can’t wait to unleash this stuff.”

It is a big celebration, as it is the band’s first EP. “We have enough material to record another EP, or even a full album in the not too distant future, so watch this space.”

While working on the EP, the band cut back on gigs to give recording their full attention and has also enjoyed a bit of downtime.

Gus Brown started when guitarists, Dale and Nick Vickery began jamming original acoustic tunes with Gavin on vocals. “Back then it was fun and folky and we were fortunate enough to be given great slots at Splashy Fen and White Mountain festivals,” said Gavin.

In 2014, twins, Barry and Ryan de Beer were added to the mix on bass and drums, a move that has brought a new dynamic to the sound and has funked up the vibe.

Woodfish Creative has documented some of the band’s in-studio experiences and the videos can be found on Youtube.

There are plans to do something big, special and a little different for the release, but these will be revealed closer to the time.

The EP can be purchased online through iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Google Music and other online outlets.
