New admin head for Toti SAPS
She followed in her father's footsteps to join the service.
THE new support head in the administration department at Toti SAPS is newly-promoted Maj Baby Siwela, who took up her post on Monday, 3 November.
Prior to her promotion, she held the rank of captain at crime intelligence support at the provincial office since 2004.
Initially, she qualified as a teacher and had been teaching for a few years, before she decided to join the service. “My dad was in the police and I decided to follow in his footsteps. I also wanted to help those in need and to fight crime.”
Major Siwela trained at Hammanskraal in Pretoria and completed her field training in Eshowe. Her first posting as a fully-fledged member was in Gingindlovu. She was also posted to Nongoma and Newcastle SAPS, before moving to the provincial office.
“I made the right career choice, I have learnt so much in this job.” She said if anyone is thinking of joining the police, it would be a good choice. In her spare time Maj Siwela enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and leading a fit and healthy lifestyle.
