Orange recycling project hits a snag

The collection should be running smoothly next week.

Durban Solid Waste has reassured worried Toti residents that the orange recycle refuse bags are still being collected and distributed.

This follows a complaint from a Vasco Da Gama Road resident that the bags have not been collected in her street for about three weeks.

“There is a new contractor who is now servicing the southern areas of eThekwini,” said Zanele Dlamini of DSW education and waste minimisation. “He started on 1 October and we are aware that he is missing some roads. We are rectifying the problem and we should have the collection running smoothly next week.

We apologise for the non-collection of bags in some areas.”

To report non-collection and to request bags, householders must call the helpline on 031-303-1665 for orange bags.
