Sweetwaters founder turns 90
ONE of Sweetwaters Full Gospel Church's founding members in Winklespruit recently turned 90.
George Glinister along with his wife Freda started Sweetwaters Full Gospel Church in their home in 1967 after they moved to Amanzimtoti with their sons Peter and Eddie. George served for many years as the church’s secretary and his wife taught in the church Sunday school. George has been a Toti resident for the past 80 years. “When I first moved to Toti it was all bush and now it’s a bustling town,” said George.
George and Freda have been married for 61 years. “Serving the Lord, getting involved in the church and staying healthy is the secret to a happy marriage,” said Freda. The couple have two sons. Their son Peter has been playing the bass guitar in the Sweetwaters Church band for over 40 years.
Up until May, George was still driving his yellow Fiat around Toti. He boasts of never having had a car accident while driving. The couple moved to Mooihawens in May.
