Toti United Football Club’s senior team makes a comeback

The team, which officially kicked-off in June, is currently training and playing friendlies in preparation for next year's league.

THERE were plenty of action-packed soccer games at Toti United Football Club’s (FC) home ground recently, including the club’s newly-formed senior division.

The senior team, which officially kicked off on June 28, was formed in order to bridge the gap in the club as its age groups only ranged from U6 to U17.

The club’s chairperson, and senior’s coach, Zenzo Ncube said, “Many of our players grew up in the ranks of Toti United; only to be left with no opportunities to further their passion and fitness, or being forced to find a club that could cater for them.”

Ncube said the players approached the club to rebuild the team. “Since we started about three weeks ago, we’ve had a couple of friendlies to give the players game time and to rebuild the team in preparation for next season’s league. We will use the remainder of this season to train and build the players physically, mentally and tactically,” he said.

Despite the players giving it their all on the field, the team lost 2-0 to Young Stars FC. Ncube said they are showing good signs of team building which gives him hope for the upcoming season.

“Since most of them are familiar with the league and game, we are expecting them to compete well and finish at least middle of the log,” he said.

The results for some of the other games on the day are: U13s lost 3-0 to Young Stars FC, U17A tied 2-2 to Senzokuhle FC, U12A tied 1-1 to Golden Eagles FC and U15A won 3-1 to Senzokuhle FC.
