Isipingo Hills public pool to reopen soon

The pool was closed to the public two years ago after it experienced mechanical problems.

RESIDENTS of Isipingo Hills can look forward to making a splash in the public swimming pool as Ward 90 councillor, Shad Nowbuth, promises it will be repaired soon.

The pool was closed two years ago after it experienced many challenges that included electrical and mechanical problems in the plant room, stolen cables, and faulty pool motors. The eThekwini Municipality’s electricity department also has to revamp the electricity distribution board.

Nowbuth said eThekwini has been giving one excuse after another when asked why the repairs were taking to long, but now they are on top of things.

“The community has been deprived of use of the pool for far too long because of maintenance work that is being carried out. A date for completion has not been set but I can say that the pool will open soon, well before the December holidays,” said Nowbuth.

In the meantime, he said residents can make use of the Tiger Rocks swimming pool at Isipingo Beach.

“That pool is open to the public and everything is going well besides the gate that was stolen recently. A proper fence will need to be installed around it,” said Nowbuth.
