What to do on Nelson Mandela Day 2023

A directory of some Durban charities you can help on Nelson Mandela Day.

NELSON Mandela Day is celebrated all over the country by people participating in charitable activities. Be part of a good cause and participate in something helpful this year. Here is a list of organisations and activities you can donate your 67 minutes to.

FoodForward SA

FoodForward SA is an organisation that works to fight food security. They recover edible surplus food from the consumer goods supply chain and distribute it to community organisations that serve marginalised communities.

For Nelson Mandela Day, the organisation will be opening their warehouse on 23 Gillits Road, New Germany, for people to spend their 67 minutes. This can be done through sorting food items and packing parcels that will help non-profit organisations like community kitchens, shelters, centres for vulnerable children and elderly care facilities prepare nutritious meals.

Booking information is available on the FoodForward SA website and Facebook page.
