Daniel Adonis had done all other preparations ahead of the Comrades, but he did not have proper running shoes.

The CCPO’s Paul O’Neall said Daniel had spent a lot of time training for the Comrades, but he did not have proper running shoes to take on the almost 90km race.

“For that distance, one needs good quality running equipment, and Daniel could not afford the shoes he needed,” said Paul.

That led to the CCPO making a public appeal for running shoes for Daniel. In no time, after making the post, Joe Puren of Steelform KZN heeded the call and offered to buy the shoes.

“I’m grateful for what Joe has done to help me take part in the Comrades. A big thank you from me and my family,” said Daniel. He also extended thanks to the CCPO for its support.
