FOUR of Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s (ACC) players have been selected to represent the Dolphins Veterans Team in the over 40s interprovincial tournament from May 8 to 12.

They were selected based on statistics and trials that were held at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium. To qualify, players had to be over the age of 40.

The tournament sees teams split into two groups, with games taking place at three venues. The format is 45 overs a side, as per the international master’s cricket (IMC) playing conditions.

ACC Vets’ captain Bennie Benade said he was extremely proud of the players. “As a club, we are extremely honoured and proud to have four of the 16 Dolphins players coming from ACC,” said Benade.

At the conclusion of the tournament, a national side will be chosen to represent South Africa at the World Cup that will be played in Pakistan in September.
