Upper South Coast Art Association turns 40 this year

The club was started to formalise individual artists into a club.

AS THEY prepare to celebrate the Upper South Coast Art Association’s (USCAA) 40th anniversary, its members held their monthly meeting at Mooi Hawens recently to celebrate their created art.

The club’s Irene Carroll said that when members meet on the third Saturday of every month, they submit their work entries according to a specific theme. The theme for March was ‘Out of the blue’.

“Hendriette Wolmarans and Connie Hetherington started the USCAA. They decided to formalise the activities of a group of artists into an art club. We are delighted to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year and proud that we continue to foster an appreciation of art within our community,” said Carroll.

At the meeting, Heila Topp’s submissions won first positions in the advanced colour and black and white categories.

From March 30 to April 1, Carroll said the club will hold an exhibition at Seadoone Mall for the benefit of the SPCA Amanzimtoti. She said there would also be a donations box and anything can be donated.
