Electricity restored in Isipingo

The station was damaged when an alleged copper thief tried to steal cables.

THE 11 000V electricity distribution station that was damaged in Isipingo on February 21, when a man allegedly attempted to steal cables, has been repaired successfully. The resulting outage left a large area in Isipingo and Prospecton West without electricity, and the suspected thief was fatally electrocuted.

In a statement, THE eThekwini Municipality said its teams of electricians worked around the clock since the damage occurred.

“We thank our teams for working day and night since the day of vandalism. Thanks to the affected residents for their patience and understanding,” read the statement.
