Toti rider extends his lead in the championship

He worked his way through the field, battling every competitor along the way and took the lead with only one lap left.

ON June 11, Amanzimtoti’s Jesse Conci received an overall first place result after winning both his races at Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone.

“Now well into the season, racers are geared and aware of their competitors and their riding styles. It’s all about defending and fighting for their positions in the championship,” said Helluvafast team admin manager, Carmen Conci.

Having sunny weather conditions for the day was a confidence booster for racers as they had confidence that their tyres would grip, and bikes will perform the way it was meant.

Jesse used that confidence right off the bat, and just eight laps into the qualifier and free practice he set the fastest lap record for a Honda CBR150 and personal best lap-time of 1:24:06. Jesse qualified to start in first position.

Having set the bar high in the qualifier, other competitors did not have enough drive to be able to compete with Jesse in first race. It was smooth sailing for him, as he won the first race with almost half a lap lead ahead of second place.

The race organisers decided to change things up in the second race and challenge Jesse to start from the back of the starting grid, with no overtaking allowed until after the first corner.

“The rest of the 150cc field agreed, excited to be able to ride up close and personal with their championship leader. This was also well received from the spectators as Jesse had only 8 laps to get through a field of 11 other racers,” said Carmen.

He worked his way through the field, battling every competitor along the way and took the lead with only one lap left. Jesse won the race, sealing him as the super production winner for the day, with a best time of 1:24:986.

Jesse rides a Honda CBR150 sponsored by Helluvafast Motorcycles, SYM Motorcycles and Scooters, AGV Helmets, Mikesigns, Sugar Skull D-zign, Metzeler Tyres, and Startline.

Even with the challenge presented, Jesse still came out on top for the day, further extending the lead in the championship. With Jesse’s Honda near perfection, the team are heading out to the next race held at Dezzi Raceway on the July 23.
