Interruption of water supply in several KZN areas

The eThekwini Municipality has released a statement warning residents that several areas will be affected by a water supply interruption due to the recent devastation across KwaZulu-Natal.

SEVERAL areas around Durban are without water. This after heavy rains battered large parts of the city causing extensive damage.

In a statement, the eThekwini Municipality said the interruption is due to heavy rains that have caused substantial damage to uMgeni Water infrastructure.

The Municipality said that as a result of the damage, the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works is unable to transfer enough water to eThekwini reservoirs.

This means that the eThekwini Municipality is unable to meet the full water demand of its consumers. They added that most areas in the city will experience a shortage of water supply, with several areas already affected. Water tankers will be dispatched to affected areas.
