Toti JKA Karate Club competes in provincials

The club had a total of 28 students compete, winning 47 medals (15 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze) with all students being awarded their JKA KZN colours.

STUDENTS from the Amanzimtoti JKA Karate Club recently competed at the 2022 JKA KZN Provincial Tournament at Thomas Moore College in Kloof.

The club had a total of 28 students compete, winning 47 medals (15 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze) with all students being awarded their JKA KZN colours.

They will go on to compete at the SA JKA National Championships in Johannesburg in May.

Six of the clubs students, who were newer to karate and wanted to test their skills in a tournament style showcase, competed in the ‘unofficial’ friendly division of the tournament. Some were awarded awarded certificates and trophies for their performance.

“I am extremely proud of my student’s performance, of which they have shown great dedication throughout the year. Thomas Moore were incredibly great hosts and it was such an honour to be afforded the opportunity to use their state-of-the-art iKhwezi Indoor Sports Centre,” said Sensei Michael Thompson.
