Toti SPCA in need of donations

"If the next two years are like the last two, we won't be able to keep functioning," - SPCA.

THE Amanzimtoti SPCA has lost more than 50% of their funds over the last two years, and are in desperate need of donations.

They are a non-profit organisation, that does not receive any government funding. “We have always been very careful with our money, to ensure we are prepared for a ‘rainy day’.

“To make sure we can always continue to be there for animals who need us. Unfortunately it’s been ‘storming’ now for two years, and the truth is, we are battling” said Toti SPCA volunteer, Stacey Wall.

Every month they run at a loss, as their running costs climb. Petrol prices, pet food, medication and detergent prices go up, more and more pets are being surrendered, while donations decline, because many people are battling right now.

“The rate at which our funds are depleting is really concerning. If the next two years are like the last two years, we won’t be able to keep functioning. We are really worried” said Stacey.

She said what would help them enormously is if people could commit to a small donation each month, because they need to build up their monthly income. They have their debit order forms available on request.

“Every little bit adds up, even if you can only afford R30 a month, it will make a difference,” she said.

They have opened a PayPal account for overseas supporters. For donations, use treasurer@spcatoti.co.za
