The Toti veterans were playing at home against East Coast in a must-win, to end above King Cetshwayo Cricket District (KCCD) on top of the log in group A of the inaugural Veterans Premier League.

“East Coast won the toss and decided to bat first. They quickly found themselves in big trouble against Toti’s opening bowling pair of Hendrik Nienaber and Mark Sheppard going for only 12 runs in the first 6 overs.

From there on the boys kept the pressure on dismissing East Coast for 79 in the 18th over. Hendrik Nienaber again showed his master class with figures of 3 overs for only 3 runs and 1 wicket.

ACC went into bat chasing 80 with a clear message from captain Melvyn Jackson to the openers ‘go dominate’ and boy oh boy, did they dominate.

Taking only 6 overs to reach the target and winning by 10 wickets and another bonus point. Francois Strydom scored 43 from 13 balls and Bennie Benade, 27 from 10 balls.

This Saturday they will face Ilembe in the final to be crowned champions of KZN. Go make us proud, ballies,” said ACC media manager, Yolande Benade.
