Amanzimtoti Rugby Club releases 75th-anniversary book
The book celebrates the club's rich history and tradition.
HEARTS of the Terriers, an anniversary book that captures the history and vision of 75 years of the Amanzimtoti Rugby Club, was launched at an event held at Hutchison Park on Saturday, January 15.

Former players from years ago and supporters of the “Terriers” went down memory lane, reminiscing about the club’s golden years and the fun they had. The book was written by veteran journalist, Mike Greenaway, and it captures the spirit and the culture of the Amanzimtoti Rugby Club by detailing events and players that made the club what it still is today.
The many dignitaries present included KwaZulu- Natal Rugby Union president, Brian van Zyl, and legendary coach, Ian McIntosh. Van Zyl said Toti is a special club and not many clubs have published books.
“The Hearts of Terriers is unbelievably well written and is filled with amazing stories. The only way for Toti from here is upwards and I wish them well in the new season,” said Van Zyl.
MacIntosh said the book brings out the ‘gees’ of the club and what shines the brightest is the club’s tradition.
“Three things came to mind while reading the book: tradition, heart, and happiness. These are things that money can’t buy. Young players of today are missing out on the experience that shapes one into an outstanding club rugby player,” he said.
MacIntosh lamented the fact that club rugby has taken a backseat in South Africa as the emphasis is put on divisions that are financially lucrative For more details about the book, call 071 271 4104.
