Eight of Amanzimtoti Bowling Club’s teams compete in district 4’s

The first round of the Port Natal 4's bowls competition consisted of three round-robin games of 15 ends each, with only teams who won their section able to progress to the next round.

LAST weekend saw the start of the 2021 Port Natal 4’s bowls competition at clubs around the district and Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) played host to 12 of the men’s teams.

The first round consisted of three round-robin games of 15 ends each, with only teams who won their section able to progress to the next round.

Of the four men’s and women’s teams who entered from ABC, two were victorious. Going through to the knock-out stages are Doreen Salmond, Marion Crouch, Jackie Holdrick and Tokkie de Kock, as well as Lynn Joubert, Michelle Pitchers, Heather Cooper and Leigh Callaghan.

Another of the women’s teams came very close to qualifying, just losing out on shot difference. That was the team of Susan Nel, Ann Whitton, Delysia Mitchley and the 2021 most improved ABC bowler – Hilary Lindsay.

There are two ABC teams entered in the Berea novice women’s pairs on Saturday, October 16 – Hilary Lindsay and her sister, Lesley Levy, and Jaylene Fagan and Karen Glover.

A reminder that two of ABC’s three greens will be undergoing spring maintenance and therefore the women’s mutton 4’s will be played on Saturday, October 23, at 13:00 for 13:30. The men’s mutton 4’s will be on Sunday, October 24, at 8:30 for 9:00, and the Fury multi franchise mixed 4’s will be on Sunday, October 31 with limited teams.
