Residents urged to remain indoors following unrest

"Unnecessary traffic is hampering law enforcement efforts,” said ward 97 councillor, André Beetge.

Residents are urged to stay off roads and remain indoors following the nationwide violence and looting.

“All shopping centres and filling stations are closed. There is no reason to be on the road during these times. Unnecessary traffic is hampering law enforcement efforts,” said ward 97 councillor, André Beetge.

Galleria Mall and Arbour Crossing Retail Centre are closed to the general public for the safety of staff and shoppers.  Meanwhile, the eThekwini Municipality remains committed to minimising interruptions, the safety of employees and municipal assets remains paramount.

“Residents are urged to report incidents of damage to public property on 031 361000 or 10111 as well as to their councillors. Residents are also urged to exercise caution at this time to ensure their safety and security,” read a release from the municipality.
