Women robbed off their cellphones in Amanzimtoti

The suspect is believed to have been in connection with the stabbing that occurred in Doonside on Friday, 29 January.

Two women were robbed of their cellphones in separate incidents.  The first incident occurred at the Amanzimtoti CBD on Friday, 26 February.

“An employee at a business in Amanzimtoti CBD was robbed of her cellphone at around 12pm. The suspects fled with her phone. The area was searched by CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security, but the suspect had disappeared,” said committee member of the CCPO, George Snodey.

The second woman was robbed at Baggies Beach on Wednesday, 24 February.

“The CCPO received a report of the incident and a description was circulated over the CCPO radio. Various security companies responded. CCPO supervisor, Lloyd Mathumulo, and his crew Hendrik Khumalo spotted a male fitting the description of the suspect on the N2 freeway. They managed to catch him and found him in possession of a knife and the suspected stolen phone. He was detained and handed over to Amanzimtoti SAPS where he was arrested. Thanks to Blue Security and ET Rapid Response for assistance in searching for the suspect.”

The suspect is believed to have been in connection with the stabbing that occurred in Doonside on Friday, 29 January.
