Mob justice for Adams Mission robbers

Irate community members got hold of the suspect and meted out mob justice.

Two suspects were arrested and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition seized following a business robbery in Adams Mission on Saturday morning, 5 December. The PT Alarms control centre received a panic activation and members were dispatched to the scene. The business owner alleged that three suspects, wielding firearms, pistol-whipped him on his head and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone. Tactical unit members pursued the suspects through the area, where one suspect was apprehended and an unlicensed firearm, with the serial number filed off, was seized. Two live rounds and a spent cartridge were also recovered. Irate community members got hold of the suspect and meted out mob justice. A search for the other suspects proved futile until the apprehended one pointed out where they live. One other suspect, believed to be the owner of the firearm, was also apprehended. The Umlazi K9 unit was on scene and the suspects were detained at KwaMakhuta SAPS. Wednesday, 2 December A suspect who robbed a woman of cash, a bank card and bag while waiting in a queue in Beach Road to collect her pension was nabbed by the CCPO. The ET Rapid Response guard at Toti Mall pressed his panic button to call for back-up. CCPO, ET, Blue Security and National members responded. The suspect was caught by CCPO supervisor, Lloyd Maphumulo near the post office and all the stolen items were recovered. Amanzimtoti SAPS opened a case and the suspect was detained.
