Amanzimtoti Round Tablers help out school

The club was recently buoyed by the induction of a new member.

Amanzimtoti Round Tablers (RT85) showed they are all for a good education with the donation of furniture to a Toti school. “At the end of September and the beginning of October, we donated 20 pre-owned quality school chairs and 10 tables that were sent to us in a container all the way from Europe.

The chairs and tables were given to Doon Heights Primary School, that is respectfully in need of support and funding like all other government schools in our local community. We thank everyone involved who made this little handover and good gesture possible,” said RT85 president, Terence Hartwanger.

The club was recently buoyed by the induction of a new member, Tiaan Opperman, 28. “I was invited by a Round Table member a few times and then finally decided to attend a meeting. While at the meeting, I noticed how passionate the members were about serving the community and that inspired me to attend a follow-up meeting and I have stayed on ever since.

“I think everyone is civic-minded in some way or another, but do not always have the time or the know how to make a difference and that’s why organisations like Round Table are so important, because they have years of experience when it comes to assisting individuals and communities.”

Round Table is the only club Tiaan is a member of at the moment. He joined at the right time, with RT85 hosting a very successful raid recently. “My first raid was very exciting, because it showed me a more in depth view of what Round Table is about and I was able to discuss different projects and definitely enjoyed the camaraderie.”
