Edu Paw assists furry friends despite being closed

Members of the organisation hope that once the country moves to stage one lockdown, small classes may commence.

Edu Paw has still managed to assist two little boys and their dogs who were desperate for some care, despite the organisation being closed.

“Volunteers and I met to tidy our container when a young boy arrived with a flea-ridden and filthy dirty puppy. So all work stopped to attend to this poor little mite. We fed, dewormed and bathed her. We also supplied him with food to take home as well as dog dishes, a blanket and little jacket. The owner also received educational flyers to read. On another day the owner of a dog came to the gate asking for help. The dog was covered with mange and extremely thin. We also fed, dewormed and bathed the dog with mange shampoo. We gave the owner food for his dog as well as a blanket and dog dishes. Janet Ghersie fitted him with a lovely jacket. We also gave some educational canine care flyers in isiZulu,” said Cathy Keegan, the founder of Edu Paw.

“We really miss educating the children and being able to do something to improve the life of township dogs. Our current setup of pallet table and bench combos only allows 12 learners to sit right next to each other, so there is no space to seat 12 at a social distance. We hope it won’t be too long before we return to having classes again. All our food is finished now, so donations of adult and puppy pellets as well as tinned food would be gratefully received.”
