Seed of Hope facilitator releases first single inspired by lockdown

The song ‘Asenzenjalo’ (Let’s Do It) encourages people to wear their masks.

A Lovu Township resident has used the constraints of lockdown to fuel his creative side. Musa Mvula composed the lyrics to his first song ‘Asenzenjalo’ (Let’s Do It) to encourage people to wear their masks. After completing the lyrics, he approached a production company in Folweni, who produced the music for it, and roped in one of his former students Erica Mofekeng to lay down vocals with him. It was released on all digital stores two weeks ago. “The response has been very good and lots of taxi drivers have been requesting it. It is a dance song in the ngqomu genre, which has derived from kwaito. This has been a vision from God, as I always felt I could not sing. I used to sing in the school choir, but I’ve never had any formal training. No-one believes it is me singing on the track.” Musa was born in Umlazi and did his schooling at Badlice Primary School in Umlazi and Sobonakhona High School in Umbumbulu. After matric, he studied for a B. Comm at Unisa. He has been with the Seed of Hope organisation for 15 years, where he does development workshops training and school outreach programmes as an internship co-ordinator. I manage the teams and find sponsorships for them. “Releasing my first track has encouraged me to do more and I now want to do a full album, which I am hoping to complete by the end of the year.” For bookings, email musasabookings@gmail.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPSuTrgx4Xk   DID YOU KNOW?
