[WATCH] Turning Point joins Wonderbag campaign

With the Wonderbag you can reduce expenses on cooking fuel because you can cook food in it and also keep food warm for hours. The Wonderbag also assists with the environment, since people use less wood, charcoal, gas and electricity when cooking.

Turning Point (Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit) is proud to be part of the Community Chest and Wonderbag project.
The initiative is to assist people financially during the Covid-19 pandemic while raising funds for the organisation.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to fundraise, but also to assist people in our community to reduce household cooking expenses and assist with crime prevention,” said project manager, Norma Veldsman.

“This means saving the trees and creating less air pollution. In a unique way, this bag also helps with crime prevention. Women in rural areas need to collect wood to cook and with the Wonderbag, they leave their home less often and reduce the risk of being attacked. We have received a lot of orders so far and the support from the community has been fantastic.”

The bags are limited to two per household and can make a great gift for a family member or friend.  The organisation assists the community by providing immediate trauma intervention at the point of crisis, provides free 24-hour support and encouragement to victims of crime and abuse, and assists the community by providing counselling to victims of crime and abuse with referrals and networking with other services.
